Old Wind-up Mechanical Santa Claus-- Made in Japan c 1920's Santa Claus is standing on a nice little wooden platform 11-inches
Celluloid hands and head. His suit is flannel
his cotton mesh bag full of 'toys' contains celluloid FISH , a ball and a couple of other small things.
Condition: He winds but at the moment his head has loosened and needs to be attached to the mechanism. The key is attached to the side of his body.
When S. Claus' head is reattached he plays the drum and moves his head up and down. The celluloid fur around his cap is cracked, as is the 'parchment' top of his drum. His right boot has a little plaster loss. All these fixable glitches can be seen in the images.
Note the funny expression on his face--an old Japanese version of how Santa was imagined!
A treasure that needs a little help by someone with a steady hand!
