Old Chinese Basket Storage Trunk ~ Large c. 1900 or a bit earlier
28" x 18" x 17" deep
This beautifully woven Chinese 'trunk' with unpolished brass hinges, handles and hasp, could very well have been used by a Chinese family crossing the Pacific in the early 1900's and disembarking at the Angel Island immigration station in San Francisco Bay..after some time, maybe even a few years' time, they were granted entrance to S.F. Of course, this is just a guess, but could very well be true.
This basket was found in the basement of a Chinese Junk (pun unintended) store in the 1940's and is in very good unharmed condition, no damage no repairs. It could use a sponge bath to brighten the lovely warm color of aged bamboo.
A very nice accent piece to break up the monotony of ultra modern homes...or anywhere attractive added storage is needed. The contents shown in the last picture will not be included in the sale. Many thanks!
NOTE: This listing states that the shipping is free, only because there isn't a category for picking it up here. it is being sold as a fetch it here item...or, if desired, the buyer is to arrange shipping and absorb that cost.
