Nanking Serving Dish, a slightly different design than Canton ware; note the lacy slightly more detailed edge, rather than regular Canton's scalloped edge. c 1860
7.50 x 6.25 x 1+ inches
This very detailed petite oval platter was a part of a large collection of Canton Export China from an old San Francisco family. The pieces were collected from about 1940 to 1970 (many from dealers in Lyme CT and Philadelphia) and is authentic and non-repro.
The condition is original with no damage whatsoever or repairs.
A truly fine example of Canton-Nanking Blue and White China.
Some say this porcelain was used as ballast on ships crossing the Pacific.
