Antique Late Georgian/ Early Victorian (or late 18th, early 19th century) silver (tests 800/1000 parts) Garnet and Paste Riviere Necklace. The center pendant portion of the necklace has a fleur de lis with faceted red and light green stones that look to be garnets and peridot I believe these small faceted stones to be natural but they could be colored paste. Under the fleur de lis there is a double heart made up of two large natural collett set cabochon garnets both with old cut diamond paste surrounds with a bow design to the bottom with the same red and green faceted stones with one single collet set paste drop left to dangle. The necklace portion is made up of lovely diamond pastes (riviere). The paste stones are all individually hand cut as if they were old cut diamonds. The original clasp is present and is a slightly larger collet set paste. It is really an amazing one of a kind piece. The cabochon garnets are similarly collet set in silver each surrounded by a silver rope design. This is a wonderfully diverse necklace that could be worn with jeans and a white shirt or to a black-tie event. There are 50 old cut collet set diamond paste stones plus the one on the original clasp which all range in size from 2.5-3.5mm approximately, all set in silver (800/1000 parts which is era appropriate). The two large cabochon garnets make up the "double heart" with a few scratches and flea bites (showed best when looking at the left stone in the second photo) all commensurate with age, none detract from the beauty of the piece. The feur de lis is made up of 8 red garnets/red faceted stones and 2 light green colored stones likely light green garnets or peridot. The bow to the bottom has 2 light green and 4 red faceted stones with one collet set paste left to dangle. The double heart portion measures about 5 cm North to South and 4.5cm East to West. The necklace is 16.75 inches long. European in origin, likely French.
Please do look at the photos carefully as I do use them in my item descriptions. Questions always welcome. The new owner could give the necklace a light clean and/or have the flea bits buffed out but that is left up to the new owner. This necklace is in original condition and I did not want to alter that.
