This is a Georgian 15 Karat gold chain on the thinner side, amazing on its own but can also be layered nicely. It measures 30.7 inches long and each link is hand done in a lovely raised pattern measuring 3.5 mm. The 15K gold barrel clasp has likely been replaced in antiquity (showing some evidence of solder marks, not uncommon for its age) which does not detract from the beauty of this piece. These chains were made and meant to be 18 Karat gold but usually test between 14-15K gold (as this one does). The Georgian's gold mixture, having no real testing equipment, was not quite as precise as modern day hence why many are listed as 18K gold. The chain is light to the touch, with a lovely raised pattern on each link all done by hand. The chain weighs 20.3 grams and is a wonderful "starter" Georgian chain, a fabulous layering piece, or simply beautiful worn alone. Please do study all photos as they are integral to all item descriptions. Some photos have been enlarged to show you the detail and pattern. Questions are always welcome.
Please note: the last two photos are of the two Georgian chains I have up for sale. This listing is for the shorter thinner 15K Georgian gold chain in the middle and on top in last two photos respectively.
