19th C. Silver Teapot India Presentation Piece Cobra Handle

This is a finely detailed two cup teapot made from tested lower grade Silver. It does not have hallmarks. It is a presentation piece with engraving along the lid and the top rim. “ PRESENTED BY LOCO. STAFF FATEHGARH DISTRICT” on lid “J.BELL ESQR.”

It is made from heavy gauge silver with dense repousse and engraving. Depicting Elephants, fish border, Man on horse hunting scenes, Man on Elephants, buildings, landscape, flowers, man with gun, lion, and cobra handle. It has a good working hinge. It has a light dent just below the District lettering. It stands 6 ¼ inches tall, 6 ½ inches from handle to spout, and 2 ¼ inches wide at the base rim. It holds two teacups worth.

The Fatehgarh District is near Punjab area of India. Circa 1850 – 1880. A functional piece of artwork, made from a skilled silversmith. It weighs 347 grams.
