American Painted Toleware Tin Tray Peacock
I believe this is an American hand painted on tin large tea tray. It is painted with exotic birds, looks like a Peacock and Bird of Paradise, with flowers looking like Passion Flower, Peony, Rose, and a snake, with a central water feature. It is done in a folk Art manner, influenced by the style of Japan. Japanning on tin, is a term used. It has had a later applied varnish or lacquer. Circa 1860, American possibly English. It has two pierced handles for holding, and a gold painted border. It measures 22 x 16 inches. It has some denting, there is a drip of varnish on the back. This an antique Victorian era tea tray, done by the young woman in America and England. Shipping to USA and Canada $35.00 with a tracking number and insurance.
