This is a very fine and beautiful enamel Japanese Cloisonne Vase. It depicts Iris' and foliage with a white heron standing on one leg. They used silver wire in the cloisonne, the base enamel is black possibly very very dark navy blue. The flowers are purple with long slender yellow centers. It has a copper rim top and bottom, originally the rims would have been silver plated, you can see a bit on the silver on the bottom rim. It has green enamel inside and on the base. Circa 1880 – 1900, within the Meiji Period. It is unsigned. Beautiful shape, good condition. It is plain on one the other side has the Iris' and Heron. It stands 7 inches tall x 3 ½ inches wide.
