19th Century Silk Embroidery Painted Sampler American English
This work looks better in real life, good color and depth. It is possibly American, it came from the USA. Though it could be English. It is hand embroidered silk painting. These were done by young woman of the 1700 – 1850 as teaching of skills. Using the satin stitch and french knot, it depicts a young woman in a blue dress with a pinkish bow, holding spectacles in one hand in the other hand a hanky or note, with her dog sitting next to her. She sits under a tree in the beautiful countryside with a blue sky, she is deep in thought. It has a eglomise glass. A black painted oval with gold flowers in each corner. It has what looks like the original frame, gold gilt with beaded border. The frame is in rough condition, the upper left of the frame is chipped on the top. It is backed with a wood panel. There is an old sticker with old script, about six spaced capital letters, the two center one I can read H and O, the others are too difficult to read.
It measures 16 x 12 inches. Shipping to USA $25.00.
