Embroidered Silk Embroidery Japanese Dragon Tobacco Pouch w/ Button Kagamibuta
This is Magnificent Dragon Pouch, hand embroidered using the Forbidden Stitch or Peking Knot throughout, there satin stitch in the mouth of the dragon. The three toed dragon is chasing the flaming pearl, amongst the clouds. It has a silver dragon clasp. It is suspended with 10 chains made of white metal, the long metal bead holding the chain also has a dragon on it. The chains are attached to a early plastic, celluloid button called a Kagamibuta. That also has a white metal dragon. It opens to show two compartments, the lining made with soft leather with a floral pattern. The embroidery on the inside shows the tail of the dragon and Mount Fuji. Circa 1900, in good condition, the pouch measures 51/2 x 3 ½ inches. The chain extends 4 inches, the button is 2 inches across.
