On offer is a pearlware blue transfer printed plate by Robert Hamilton who was in business from 1811-1826. While specific patterns are known by or attributed to this potter thanks to valuable resources such as the data base of the Transferware Collectors Club, few pieces are marked. This plate has the correct " HAMILTON STOKE" impressed mark as shown. The scene is of two Asian fishermen with a boat and net in what were considered to be romantic surroundings. A definite collector's item.
Dimensions: Diameter is 9 7/8".
Condition: Excellent. There are no chips or cracks and no repairs. The glaze is smooth and unworn, the color is strong and the print is clear.
Early period antiques are quite old, were made to be used, and frequently have signs of age and use and sometimes a small manufacturing flaw or repair. While this is normal and to be expected, I note any known issues in the condition description.
