Offered is a lovely and useful serving bowl made by the Copeland Spode Company in excellent condition. In addition to the impressed Copeland Spode mark for this period, there is the S over 85 impressed mark indicating a manufacturing date of September 1885. This system of impressed date marks was used from the 1880's into the early 20th century. This bowl shows fine workmanship and would be excellent for presenting appetizers, chocolates etc.
Dimensions: 10" in diameter, 1 1/2 inches high
Condition: Excellent. THe colors are striking, the gilding is great and unworn, the glaze is smooth and shiny; there is no wear to it other than very slight rubbing to the top of a couple of interior ridges. There is no restoration, and there are no chips or cracks.
Early period antiques are quite old, were made to be used, and frequently have signs of age and use and sometimes a small manufacturing defect or repair. While this is normal and to be expected I note any known issues in the condition descriptions.
