This very unique, solid oak wood box seems to have been custom designed to carry dog grooming tools and supplies. It is beautifully adorned with what looks like a highly-detailed, hand drawn portrait of an adult sheepdog, that was drawn and then glued to the front of this box. The only evidence that it was done in this manner, is that you can see the outline around the drawing. It is very strongly adhered to the box and shows no signs of pealing or any other evidence of damage. It has it's original, dark brown leather handle, which has one scratch on it, but is otherwise in great condition. It has two original latches that are rusted, but work very well. Inside the cover of the box is a wooden sliding door, that looks to be designed to hold long objects in place for storage and transport. The bottom has two narrow compartments and one wide, center compartment. It also has a wooden tray that is removable and covers two-thirds of the inside of the box. It is a large box at 14" tall x 16 1/2" long x 9" wide, and it is in great, vintage condition. There is a signature on the bottom that is difficult to read, along with the date: 1930. While there are many ways to re-purpose and display this wonderful, vintage box, it tops the list as a fabulous gift for any dog groomer!
