This magnificent, antique portrait of a Mastiff dog was hand painted on a porcelain plate in Cauldon, England in the early 1900's. With his pink tongue hanging out and showing his well-worn leather collar with a curled end, he looks just like the big, old, friendly guy next door. The plate measures 10 1/4" in diameter, and it is in excellent condition. It is signed by the artist, G. Pedersen, just to the left of the dog, in line with his collar. It is stamped "Cauldon England" on the back, along with the number "8." There is some discoloration on the back of the plate, which is not at all noticeable from the front.
He would make a stunning addition to a wall gallery, but due to the great colors used, and his bold personality, he could easily hang alone, and still be easily noticed and always admired.
