This wonderful, Dresden porcelain (Germany) matchstick holder/striker was designed in the form of a sweet Terrier dog, dutifully holding on to a top hat. The interior of the hat was used to hold matchsticks, and there is a ridged strip along the side of the base that was used as a striker for the matchsticks. Measuring 3 3/4" tall x 5 1/4" long x 2 1/2" wide, this unique piece is in excellent condition. The maker's mark is incised on the underside of the base, but it is indistinguishable. Aside from being so charming, this sweet dog's top hat can be used to hold a variety of desktop items. It is the perfect size to hold a roll of stamps!
