A stunning 17th. Delfts Blue porcelain tea caddy ca. 1645 signed A.K.
AK stands for Aelbrecht de Keyser, one of the first makers of Dutch porcelain and second owner of the manufactory "De Twee Scheepje". (The Two Boats)
Hand painted and tin glazed made in Delft, Holland.
The caddy has some minor trace of use like you can see on the photo`s.
The bottle cap is missing!
Size, 4.5 inch tall & 4.5 inch wide.
De Twee Scheepjes manufactory history (1635-1796):
Founder of the pottery was Adriaen Cornelisz de Kater.
After his death, his employee Nicolaes Cornelisz de Keyser, was inherited the company. Later he become a master of the St. Lucas Guild.
Shortly after the V.O.C. had there first shipments with Japanese porcelain had auctioned in Amsterdam, de Keyser start with imitating the Imari porcelain. After his death (1667) his son inherited the company.
