Vintage Art Deco Retro Moderne 14k white gold 1.06 carat, 23 diamond ring, size 7-3/4. Measures 11/16", x 13/16", with a side profile rise of 1/4", band tapers to 1.5mm at the back of the ring shank. Weighs 5.3 grams and would be safe to size up or down one or two sizes. Curved to fit the finger, low and very comfortable on the hand. The mounting is very unusual with very fine milgrained edges (fine bead work) and a raised half crescent in the center in which the three main diamonds are set (see side views). The mounting has an open raised gallery that allows light to flood in from behind the diamonds, adding to the sparkle, particularly in the bright sunlight, and in candle light, this also puts on quite a show. Hallmarked "14K" on the inside of the ring shank. Features 23 diamonds, the carat weight breaks down thus:
Two- 4mm diameter round brilliant cut (.20 carat each, .40 carat total) One- 3mm diameter round brilliant cut (.10 carat) Four- 2.5mm diameter round brilliant cut (.06 carat each, .24 carat total) Eight- 2mm diameter round single cut (.03 carat each, .24 carat total) Eight- 1.5mm diameter round single cut (.01 carat each, .08 carat total)
All of the diamonds have excellent color and clarity, absolutely ablaze with sparkle. No eye visible inclusions, and even with 10x magnification, inclusions that are difficult to see:
VS2-SI1 clarity I-J color
Diamonds measured with Presidium dial gauge. Fluorescence measured with GIA Instruments Diamond UV Light (two of the single cut diamonds fluoresce very weakly chalky white). Diamond color measured with Master Color Grading Set and GIA Instruments Diamond Light. We give a two step color and clarity range based on the confines that exist with a mounted diamond. We use GIA diamond and colored stone grading standards as well as subscribing to Gemval reference guide services. We are GIA (Gemological Institute of America) certified in Diamonds, Diamond Grading, Colored Stones, and Gem Identification.
The ring is in outstanding well cared for condition and belonged to a now 96 year old woman who received this as a gift from her husband in the mid 1950s.
