Vintage 10k gold (very subtle pinkish colored gold) moonstone cabochon solitaire ring size 5-1/2. Simple 6 prong mounting really shows the moonstone off, simple and elegant. The moonstone is a full round bead and measures 5.2mm in diameter. The ring has a dramatic 10mm rise off the top of the hand, the band tapers to 1.4mm at the back of the ring shank, and weighs 2.1 grams. The moonstone has lots of soft bluish billowy light that comes from within, a phenomenon known as chatoyancy or adularescence. Hallmarked and maker marked "10K" on the inside of the ring shank. Also hand engraved "C to JC 12-25-21" (a Christmas gift in 1921!). In excellent condition. The ring has been very well cared for and is an unusual conversation piece.
