Fabulous vintage Italian 18k yellow gold rose bouquet flower floral shell cameo statement ring, size 8. Measures 15/16" x 13/16" with a 7/8" rise off the top of the finger. The band tapers to 2.2mm at the back of the ring shank. The cameo itself measures 3/4" x 9/16". Weighs 6.3 grams. Bezel set cameo is beautifully executed. The mounting is stunning and dramatic with a split shank style, ornately chased frame with fine dog-toothed bezel. Hallmarked "750" (18K) on the outside of the ring shank- the hallmark is partially worn but still visible. In excellent very well cared for condition, circa mid-century 1950-1960. Please do note that all natural shell cameos when held to strong light will show fine growth lines to some extent, which is unique to each individual piece. We carefully examine all of our cameos to make sure that any hairlines do not penetrate the front and back surfaces of the shell, and do not compromise the integrity of the cameo.
Cameos make an incredible traditional bridal gift from mother to daughter, usually given with the intent of wearing at the wedding ceremony, and to eventually pass down to their own daughter. They also make a very popular choice for "Something Borrowed". We recommend storing fine cameo jewelry individually in a crush proof box, away from any other pieces that may damage them. Do not exposed to extreme cold temperatures, and occasionally you should moisturize the shell with olive or mineral oil. Please clean the mounting only with a very mild liquid soap such as Dove Liquid, a soft toothbrush, and a very gentle scrubbing action. Rinse well with plain tepid (luke warm) water, pat dry gently with a soft towel, and re-moisturize the shell cameo with oil after it is thoroughly dry.
