Wonderful vintage estate 14k gold (subtle pinkish color) hand crafted fire opal in matrix ring, size 5.5. Measures 3/8" in diameter, the band tapers to 2.4mm at the back of the ring shank, weighs 2 grams. The natural fire opal in matrix oval cabochon measures 8mm in diameter and is bezel set into a wide collet collar that's width just about matches the width of the actual band. Really interesting stone, matrix fire opals are a type of boulder opal and are found as part of a host rock, called Boulder ironstone. The matrix creates "windows" where you can see the orange colors of the fire opal peeking through. It's very appealing if you are into Mother Natures rough organic jewelry. Hallmarked "14K" on the inside of the ring shank. In excellent condition, an estate piece from the 1960s-1970s. NON US buyers please contact us for shipping rates.
Be sure to see the listing for the other ring that we purchased from this estate, they look incredible when worn together. (see the last image- you are purchasing ONLY the one on the right). If you want to see the other ring that is listed just type "matrix" into the search bar on our home page.
