PHENOMENAL 14k multi color (yellow gold, rose gold, green gold) black onyx mid-Victorian mourning brooch pin with hook back attachment that allows for so much versatility. Wear it alone, or as a watch pin (suspend a watch or anything else that you fancy, from the ample hook on the back), or thread your favorite chain or cord through the hook and wear this as a pendant. So many details to make note of, the black onyx has a beveled edge and is mounted in a multiple pronged dog-toothed setting. Fine twisted gold wire rope outlines the entire piece. Very dimensional with extremely high level of hand craftsmanship, all the gold flowers and leaves are individually applied separate construction and accented by 2.5mm and 3mm pearls. Measures 1-13/16" x 1-1/4" x 1/2" and weighs 13 grams. A nice larger size and presence... On the back, all the findings are 100% original. Wide tube hinge, nickle pin stem with safety stop, and a wide hooded C clasp. Typical of hand crafted jewels of this age, the piece is not karat hallmarked, it has been carefully tested by two separate jewelers, and is guaranteed to have a minimum 14k solid gold content and purity. In exceptional condition, this has been extremely well cared for and from the looks of it, was seldom even worn. Circa mid 1800s.
