Very scarce vintage WW2 US Army Military Medical Tech 10k gold caduceus brooch pin with wings snakes and wolves, 1943 engraved on the back. Signed by maker Hausmann. Measures 1-1/4" x 1-1/8", weighs a sturdy 6 grams. Incredible workmanship and fine details from the feathers of the wings, to the entwined snakes, and the Society Of the Holy Name of Jesus IHS shield crest that contains wolves, and fleur de lis. Amazing detail, truly. Hand engraved on the back "Elaine R. Villars 1943", hallmarked "10K", and maker marked "Hausmann". Elaine R. Villars (Whittington)- Elgin, Illinois, Dec 26, 1925 - Dec 30, 2010. According to the research I did, her nickname was "Shorty". I would have loved to have met this incredible and spunky woman, and talk with her about her life and legacy. Here's to you Shorty, thank you for your service!
The loop at the top would make it very easy to add a bail and wear this as a necklace.
