Very heavy sterling silver reticulated serving bonbonniere. It was used to serve "bonbons". (Chocolates or pieces of candy).
The butler would put it over his wrist and hold on to the tip of the handle of the piece with his other hand and offer a chocolate
or mint or whatever to guests after dinner.The back has the three symbol Gorham Silver Company trademark along with "A 291". It is also signed "Bigelow Kennard Co" and "Sterling" on the back. It has a woman's head at the top of the handle along with flowers, roses, leaves and cherub heads in the design. It is VERY solid weighing in at 8 troy ounces. A wonder of exceptional quality and design! Circa: late 1800's. Dimensions: 9"L x 4.5"W. Condition: No flaws. Lightly polished. Price: $1150.
