Rare rosewood center table attributed to Pottier and Stymus, NYC. A very similar table is shown on page 50 of Styles of American Furniture 1860-1960 by Eileen and Richard Dubrow. It has a gorgeous inset multi colored marble. The top is surrounded by a band of burgundy colored fabric bordered by a fancy brass band on the inside and outside. The skirt features a rectangular brass bordered Sevres painted porcelain in the middle of the two sides. It has a large bottom open carved stretcher with an impressive large finial in the middle. The stretcher is faux grained rosewood while the rest of the table is solid. "Top of line" tables like this, were very expensive in the 1865-1870 period and only found in the finest Victorian mansions! Circa: 1865. Dimensions: 29.5" H x 37" L x 25.5" D. Condition: The table has been professionally restored with the surface finish polished. The burgundy fabric has been replaced but is in keeping with the original. The supports under the top marble have been replaced to strengthen that area. Price: $6500
