Gorgeous Victorian copy of Raphael's famous Madonna Della Sedia. This is one of the best known Italian paintings and has been a favorite subject of later artists. It has been framed in a gorgeous Florentine gilt open carved three-dimensional frame with a series of half rounds surrounding the canvas. An original label on the back shows that it came from the gallery of Angiolo Valdinoci (see photo). It has aged beautifully and has the same presence as an Old Master painting.
