From our personal collection, a sensational rosewood Rococo Victorian gentleman's armchair. This large-size chair has a magnificent open floral carved crest. An ornately open carved back frame surrounds the elaborately shaped needlepoint upholstered middle. This, along with the seat, features a handsome grouping of flowers set into a light lavender background. The legs and skirt are all intricately carved. The front feet have the original brass castors. This chair, which was likely made by one of the great New York cabinet makers, is of the same quality and design as some of the very finest chairs made by John Henry Belter during the same period! Circa: 1850. Dimensions: 49.5" H x 28" W. Condition: The solid rosewood frame is very heavy and has a good original patina. The top crest has been cracked and repaired and must be handled carefully. The upholstery is BEAUTIFUL and in good usable condition. Price: $2150.
