Fabulous silver-plated overlaid panel lamp made by the Empire Lamp Company.
The magnificent large shade has eight curved caramel slag glass panels on the top portion and flat panels on the bottom. The entire shade has a silver metal overlay that features flying birds and trellis work on the top panels and a resting bird on each of the lower ones. The base carries through on this bird motif with four gliding swans around the bottom and
flowers on the stem. This is one of the most unusual and lovely panel
lamps I have offered for sale. Certainly, the premier showcase lamp made by
the Empire Lamp Company. Circa: 1910. Dimensions: 19.5" Maximum
diameter of shade x 26" H. Condition: Glass and original metal patina
are in great condition. There is one bird missing on the top shade and one is missing a wing. (The lamp is so "busy" that this is not immediately apparent). The cylindrical metal top of the lamp, under the shade and above the sockets, has some splits that are held together solidly in place by
black electric tape - not a visual or structural issue. Price: $1450
