From our personal collection: An exquisite beaded purse with top sterling frame with snakes and gorgeous elegant bead work. The frame is signed “STERLING” on the inner rim and the clasp of two snake heads, that slither on the top edge of the frame, with the original oval link chain. The body of the purse has delicate rosebuds with leaves and a Roman key pattern on a dramatic diagonal. The patterned beads shimmer and correspond beautifully with the upper sterling trim. The fine bead work is the same of the front and the back and all in remarkable excellent original condition. The interior fabric appears is dark green, delicate taffeta type fabric, with slight fraying on either end, and some edging detached from age and normal use. (Fine quality purses are more often found in German silver and not Sterling silver.) This lovely purse is a wonderful example of very skilled bead work and silver craftsmanship! Circa: 1915. Condition: exterior is excellent original; interior shows normal use/wear. Dimensions: (purse, not chain) 4 1/2″ H x 8″ W x 1 1/2″ D. Price: $595.
