Matched pair of Victorian era paintings by F. Hartung. He is listed in Davenports as an American 19th century artist. Both are early western scenes painted on slightly concave round brass plates. One features native Americans sneaking up on a wagon train. Notice the partial skeleton and dogs in the fore ground. The other painting depicts a native American village with tepees, dogs, drying rack and a horse chase complete with lasso. Each is signed in the lower right corner. The previous owner had them set in some modern and rather inappropriate frames with fabric on plywood. I left them in the frames to make them easier to ship but leave it to the buyer to have them taken out and either re framed or left as round decorative plates. A wonderful period subject by a listed artist! Circa: 1880. Dimensions: 9.5 ” Diameter (plates). Condition: Good original paint set into modern frames. Price: $1395 for the pair
