Rare form Victorian Aesthetic period settee or asymmetrical chair. It has a fancy design with three large balls on top, turned supports, original paint decorated elements, faux bamboo style turned spindles, smaller balls on top of the horizontal back rail and bold turnings on the bottom horizontal supports and legs. The seat is curved at one end and has been recently reupholstered. This was made in the late Nineteenth Century when the opening of Japan created a wave of interest in Japanese design. A very decorative and unusual piece! Circa: 1880. Dimensions: 32″ H x 29″ L x 17″ D. Condition: Great original paint on an ebonized frame. Normal wear indicative of the age. Price: $995
