Gorgeous Renaissance Revival Victorian walnut sewing stand or work table. The inset top has an inlaid bird, cherries and flowers set into a banded inlay border surrounded by figured walnut. The top lifts up to reveal a lovely birdseye maple compartmentalized interior. The middle rear section has a lid made out of rosewood. There is a fine quality brass lid support on the right side of the interior lid. Beneath this area, there is a narrow drawer with key and a larger "belly" drawer that would have held small knitting or sewing projects. The entire piece is handsomely decorated with carved rosettes, incised carvings, raised burled shaped panels and the original ebony and gilt highlights. A stunning piece that can have many modern uses! Circa: 1870. Dimensions: 28.5″H x 25″W x 18″D. Condition: Good polished original finish with rich deep patina. The gilt and ebony are all original.
