White Rock Brand California Grapes wood advertising sign, label is 12 ¾” by 4 3/8”, mounted on side panel of wood crate 14” by 5 ¾”, depicting a young native American Indian girl kneeling on white rocks. Stamped on the wood is Emperors 25 LBS, NET WT. NO damage. Label states California Grapes Grown and Packed by P.L. Jakovich, Delano, California. The trademark for this label was issued in 1937. Delano, California was famous for the five years grape labor strike organized by the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee (AWOC), a predominantly Filipino and AFL-CIO-sponsored labor organization, against table grape growers in Delano, California to fight against the exploitation of farm workers.
