Packards Special Dressing bottle 5 1/2" tall, rectangular 1 1/2" by 2 3/8" at the base, flat panel on the front embossed with Packards Special Dressing, back is flat, sides are bulging rounded, flange top, single mold seam that stops in the middle of the throat (circa 1880). Packards Special Dressing was a liquid shoe treatment that advertised in 1900 that it "gives the best sine, cleans and preserves leather". It promoted the longevity in shoes. Product was manufactured by L. H. Packard & Co. of Montreal, an importer and wholesale dealer in shoe products. Most of his advertisements were directed to ladies for use. See photos. Bottle has been cleaned, has light blue/green hue, bubbles in the glass a faint residue on the shoulders. Bottom is marked 30, probably mold number. NO chips, or cracks.
Bottle is empty, we have photographed it with colored water to illustrated embossed lettering and graphics on the bottle.
