Mahogany parlor table, high grade, manufactured by Merklen Brothers of New York City, circa 1885 - 1897. They specialized in turned wood and spiral twists, and most pieces are identified with wood ball and brass talon feet. This furniture is often confused with George Hunzinger another quality maker. Furniture woods most often used were mahogany and rosewood. This table is 28 1/4" tall, solid mahogany table top is 16 3/4" by 24". It is fastened to a wood frame 7/8" thick, the top itself is 1" thick. Turnings are bold and emphasize the sturdiness of this piece. It was professionally refinished years ago and has a warm patina. The four legs are splayed from the top down to the floor, measuring 17 3/4" by 26" on the floor. Victorian era at its best and most refined presentation. No Damage, No Repair, No Negatives.
