Advertising Lard tin or pail, Mothers Pure Leaf Lard made by John P. Squire Co. of Boston Mass. Colorful label on the front side. Tin originally had gold tone finish on lid and pail. It is faintly present on the backside. Lift off or slip lid is original. Pail has original wire bale handle. Tin is hard to photograph due to reflections looks better in person. 8 3/8" tall, taper cylindrical shaped, 7 3/8" diameter at the top, 6 1/4" diameter at the base. Bottom is embossed with diamond and letter "C" in the center. John P. Squire was one of the nation's leading producers of pork products in the late 1890's and went out of business in 1896.
