Fan Hand Painted Feather Screen 1900 - 1915, antique hand held, Oriental influence, scene is lakeside cottage, mountains, the forest and a sailing boat; typical themes of Japanese scenic paintings during this time period. The fan screen is fixed, white feathers, of fowl plumage with fluffy tuft. Overall length including the wood handle is 14 1/4". The screen itself is 10" long and 9 1/2" at the widest. There are a total of 34 white feathers held together by two bent wires which pierce each feather shaft, the wire forms a double loop. Fan is in excellent condition, no damage or repairs, it is structurally sound. Hand painted scene is on the front side, no painting on the verso. See photos.
