Folk Art child’s toy, home crafted wood toy cannon, circa 1920’s, very ingenious, painted “army” green. Wood construction, painted wood wheels retain original red, show wear, two wheels missing from the rear end and one is worn. The launch pad is a mouse trap, marked and made by the Lovell Mfg. Co. of Erie PA. USA. It appears that the projectile was to be fired through the cannon via mouse trap launcher. Base is 6” by 2 1/4” wide, cannon extension is 5” long, stands 3 3/4” tall, overall length 9”. The Lovell Mfg. Co manufactured bed springs, mouse and rat traps, wringers and dryers, and included a foundry and machine shop. In business from 1883 to 1946. See photos.
