Antique leaded glass table lamp, with Wilkinson Company shade. Shade, base and heat cap are as we acquired the lamp. Elmer Wilkinson incorporated his business in 1907, and was only in business 6 years, when in 1915 it filed for bankruptcy.
The vibrant colored Art glass lamp shade is 19" in diameter, 7 ¼" tall. The shade has 324 pieces of leaded glass, all original and the glass is tight. There has been no replacement or repairs to the glass, it is 100% original. Four of the smaller pieces of glass have hairline heat cracks. The pattern is stylized irises and leaves; colors are emerald and pale green, yellow background with streaks of honey, red and rosy red flowers. The base of the shade is scalloped edged.
The lamp is large and heavy; the base is 7 1/2" square, elevated, and retains it's original verde finish. Wilkinson Lamp Company was known for it exquisitely designed base and construction details. The shade patterns were similar to Tiffany and Duffner & Kimberly. Wilkinson Lamps were most often not signed, occasionally a base but not shades. The base is Marked Handel, on the foot and also on the base plate, refer to photos. We think this was done to fool a novice buyer.
The heat cap and locking mechanism are tight. Finial is correct. The lamp has three light sockets with original and very important acorn pull chains. The lamp has been rewired with cloth wrap cord and bakelite plug, which is how it was originally done. Overall standing height is 21".
Shade and base will be shipped separately and must be fully insured. (Inv.4690) To purchase with credit cards please use PAYPAL. It is safe, secure, and simple to use.
