Mantel clock, antique Seth Thomas Red Adamantine, 100% original, in near mint condition. Circa 1900 - 1910. Clock is 11" tall, 8 1/2" wide, 5 1/2" deep. The original dial is 5" in diameter. The original Adamantine finish was cleaned and waxed. It sparkles as bright as the day it was made. No scratches or dings, one 1/4" chip in the finish on the right in the back, it was colored in so it is not noticeable. See photo. This is the only flaw in this mint case. The brass bezel and original pendulum were polished and sealed. There are four original, small spike shaped feet that elevate the case. They could not be removed to be cleaned. The Seth Thomas movement was professionally rebuilt, disassembled and cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner, all pivots were resurfaced and polished on a lathe, 8 new bronze bushings were installed, the verge was stoned, polished and trued up to the escape wheel. The original pendulum has a strong amplitude. The period of the pendulum measures 3 1/2".
A SIDE NOTE: Saying the restoration work was performed and actually completing the restoration work by a knowledgeable clock maker are two different issues. We sell only 100% Legitimate Antique Clocks in Mint to Excellent Restored condition.
The movement is a week duration. It chimes the hour and then once on the half hour with a deep resonating tone, not the typical "tin" sound characteristics of many American clocks. No negatives here. This is another exceptional American mantel clock. See photos. All of my mechanical clocks comes with a key and a specific set of instructions.
