Sugar Shaker Eagle Glass Co. Antique American Glass, circa 1896, sugar shakers are often referred to as sifters or muffineers. This glass shaker is American glass, circa 1896, manufactured by the Eagle Glass and Mfg. Co of Wellsburg W. VA. This pattern is shown in an early ad reprint in "Victorian Colored Pattern Glass III" by Wm. Heacock. The shaker is the large size, 4 1/2" bulbous body diameter and 6" in height. The long neck has a beaded ring with flower tendrils extending down the throat. The shaker is mold blown, opal opaque glass with a high relief floral pattern. The base is pedestal with an embossed fan design. Top is aluminum. See photos. No chips, cracks, breaks or repairs.
The Eagle Glass Co was only in business from 1894 -1917 when it topped glass production and closed 1918. Some milk glass items pattern were not often identified, there was many similarly designs in milk glass with relief flowers. The relief pattern of this sugar shaker is identical to OEM No. 100, however the flowers are not in high relief. This pattern has sometimes been referred to as Strawberry flower pattern, opaque opal glass . See photos.
