Cake set, Nippon porcelain, a complete set with a cake platter and six individual serving plates. Backstamp is Nippon mark #52 (maple leaf) in blue, Morimura Bros. era, circa 1891 -1900. The cake platter is 10" in diameter has gold leaf highlighting along rim and in border around the rim. Master cake platter has pierced handles also highlighted with gold leaf and gold flower. The pattern is a repetitive border of a pair peonies and string of plum blossoms on the outer diameter and a 1" inner border of gold links and lines. Pattern is the same on the six individual serving plates, border is 3/4" wide. Style of patterning is Art Nouveau right down to the colors used. Set has no chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. Serving plates are 6" in diameter. Condition is very good with microscopic wear of some of the gold on the master. Two serving plates have dimples in the fired glaze. See photos.
