Drugstore pharmacy advertising, NYAL drug store sundries, both bottles with contents in original packaging, NYAL Soothing Lotion for teething children and NYAL Nasal Drops for adults and children. All sides of bottle and boxes are shown. Both pharmacy bottles were made by Owens Illinois Glass Co. and are marked on the bottom with a Diamond and oval superimposed (entwined) with I in center. Circa 1940”s. Packaging, printing and coloring support this dating. The Soothing Nyal box is 5” by 1 1/8” by 2 1/4”, clear glass bottle has raised ribs on the shoulders and angular sides, 2 fluid ounce size, has twist off metal cap marked NYAL, label is crisp and clean. Bottle embossing indicates it was manufactured at Streator, Illinois factory, year indicator is 2, (1942). Unique product identifier is D-113 Nasal Drops pharmacy bottle is 1 ounce size, amber glass bottle, manufactured at Alton, Illinois factory, year indicator 4, ( 1944). Unique product identifier is D-159 Neither pharmacy item have been open or used, they show minimal shelf life wear and have been in storage from a drug store that closed in the late 1940’s.
NYAL was incorporated in 1914 under Michigan laws. It was sponsored by the Frederick Stearns Co. manufacturers and wholesalers of toiletries, pharmaceuticals, drug sundries, medications and home remedies. Nyal initially was comprised an extensive portfolio of products ranging from perfumed soap to toiletries. See last photo.
