G. E. Refrigerator clock, called Monitor Top, were giveaways with the purchase of a GE refrigerator. Cast metal clock case is 8 3/4" tall, 5" wide, and 3" deep, dial is 3" diameter. Originally these were electric clocks and considering the age most motors have simply worn out. Clocks were made for GE between 1928 and 1931 and were replicas of their refrigerators. This clock is now fitted with a quartz movement, keeps accurate time and can be displayed anywhere, no dangling cord requiring an electrical outlet. This clock is an earlier model with 16 fins on its condenser. Rare for this clock is it condition, the four metal feet are original and never broken or repaired, four brass hinges, original convex crystal and dial and the GE plaque. It was repainted some time ago with"refrigerator white enamel".There are several paint flicks that have been touched up, too small to see in photos.
