Santa Roly Poly tin, 7" tall, textured finish roly poly, NO dents, twist off top (the head) tin was made in the 1980's by Cheinco Industries. Bristol Ware, a division of the company, reintroduced this series of lithographed roly poly tins. The original tins were used as tobacco containers. Today these tins have a practical use as all purpose storage tins. A collection makes a terrific display. (Note: not sure when the Bristol Ware Division started, came into being or how production was broken down). It's very hard to find original antique tins, especially in good condition, and when they are found -- expect to pay anywhere from $300 - $650 and up for one tin. An inexpensive, alternative are these roly poly series of tins.
The 1980 tins made by Bristol Ware included a Businessman, Cowboy, Singer, Santa, Butcher and Chef. An insert was included in these Bristol Ware tins, with a bit of history as well as the names of the individual pieces the company was reproducing. See photos.
