Cake set, Noritake porcelain, Art Nouveau Luster, NO damage. Set is Art Nouveau, lusterware with gold leafing, comprised of master platter and four individual servings, total of 5 piece set, circa 1920's. Backstamp is Noritake #27, green M in wreath. The master cake plate is 9 1/2" in diameter with scallop edge and two raised relief handles. The four servings plates are 6 1/4" diameter. The patterns are identical on all dishes. There is a 1 7/8" border with white background with a pattern of flowing plumes in low relief gold, blue bellflower and random gold leaf scrolling. The set is a soft tangerine luster color.
It is very attractive and eye-catching, more unusual than typical Noritake. There is some free hand gold leafing scrolling on the master and serving plates, this was done after firing. NO chips, cracks, breaks or repairs. The bottom of the dishes are snow white; no dirt, dust or shelf marks. This set is interesting enough in that the "red" backstamp denotes painting on the dishes could have been done by one of five contractors; while "green" meant a porcelain blank was painted in-house. The master cake plate is marked in red, 3 serving dishes are backstamped in red and 1 is in green.
