Document Box, circa 1870, rosewood and inlaid mother of pearl, 12” by 8 ½”, 5” tall, silver string inlay banding on the top and front of the box, escutcheon accent with mother of pearl, interior is lined with black velvet, clean and stain free. Antique box has been cleaned and waxed. Lift up lid is fastened to base with brass hinges. Comes with a key and working lock. This key locking rectangular form box, has intricate and finely inlaid mother of pearl with stylized flora pattern. Victorian era box it could be used for sewing or jewelry. The rosewood and inlaid mother of pearl has excellent luster and patina. There has been some repair and touchup to the Mother Of Pearl, you have to look hard to see it. There was some minor repair to the rose and one piece of silver string inlay banding is missing. This is a spectacular looking 150 year old Document Box. See photos they are part of the description.
