Lawrence B. Smith founded his silver company in 1887 in Boston, Massachusetts, which at the time was an important silver manufacturing center. The company made sterling and plated silver items until c. 1958. The company employed a variety of plating techniques including the Sheffield process and electro-plated nickel silver.

Condition is excellent considering age, minor wear to the Sheffield silver Plating on lid and shoulder. Common as a result of polishing. The Sheffield plating process was a very heavy plating, so usually there is little to no evidence of wear unless it was abused. NO dings or dents. Bottom has some scratches. See photos
