Solid walnut antique American tilt top table with spider legs. The top is three boards, 22” by 16”, with chamfered edges. Nicely turned pillar, top opens and locks down properly. Circa 1870-1900. Nice original finish. Stand 29 ½” tall. Structurally sound, no wobbling, the tripod stand legs are dovetailed into the pillar, there is one repair with a metal strap to support one leg under the pillar. Well done, and very often a common seen repair. The tip of one leg was glued. No makers mark, but definitely New England. This is a very good piece of early American furniture that will continually be desirable and increase in value. This style of Antique Table is commonly referred to as a candle stand, however the correct term is a Tea Table. This is what they were sold for and used in Antiquity. See last photo of other tilt top tea tables available to purchase. The top will be removed for shipping, I have the correct sturdy box to ship the top and base in.
