Advertising tin, Chesterfield Flat 50 Cigarette pocket tin, 5 5/8” by 4 3/8”, 1/2” thick, has square corners, hinged lid, lithographed gold crown logo, gold leaf borders and lettering. Circa 1920 – 1940, tobacco manufactures got on the band wagon and started to commercially make cigarettes in large quantities one of the many types of marketing was in the form of “Flat Fifties” tins. These were flat tins with one layer of two rows of cigarettes with a total of 50 cigs, hence the nick name, “Flat Fifties”. Chesterfield was the Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company’s best known cigarette brand. The Chesterfield’s were a non-filtered brand. Some wear and and a few scratches, See photos all sides are shown.
