Starting with a white egg the designs are drawn where it is to remain white with the stylus and hot wax. The egg is placed into light color dye and then progressively designs are added and coloring continues, until desired layering of colors id effected. The final steps include melting off the layers of wax and then varnishing the egg to preserve it. Designs on this egg include straight lines (eternity or everlasting life), star (life itself, growth and good fortune), dots and small circle (stars or constellations), triangles (the Trinity – father, mother, child), heart (love), and willow (first sign of spring—life will go on), roses (love and caring), rams horns(dignity and leadership).
